Underwater Glow – Lime Crime Mermaids Hi-Lite Palette Review

If you follow me on Twitter you’ve probably read about the slight disaster I had recently with a Cult Beauty order getting lost in the post. The customer service team were really apologetic and sent me out a replacement, but sadly the Lime Crime Aquarium brushes I ordered were out of stock so I was refunded the cost of those instead. I did however receive a replacement of Lime Crime’s new Mermaids Hi-Lite palette, and I have fully forgiven the makeup gods for their parcel mishap because this palette is stunning!

I’d been lusting after Lime Crime’s original Hi-Lite palette for quite a while after its release, and when I logged onto Cult Beauty and found out they’d released two new palettes, I became completely overwhelmed with excitement. I decided to embrace my inner water baby and get their Mermaids palette, which has three gorgeous underwater-themed shades.

The first shade, Seashell is a pale lavender colour. I found this to be the palest/less pigmented shade, but it’s perfect for a simple summer blush and glow combo. Pearl is the middle shade and probably my favourite of the three, I adore a good golden highlight as they’re versatile and look good with any kind of makeup look. Mermaid is the last shade in the palette, and is a stunning iridescent blue. A little unconventional for a highlight shade, but if you want to embrace your true inner-mermaid this ocean blue highlight is perfect.

I did a few swatches in a natural light so you can get a realistic idea of how these shades will look on your skin; I often find Lime Crime’s own swatches are quite unrealistic as they use bright studio lighting and really pile the product onto the skin!

This highlighter trio is easily one of my favourites right now, but does come with a pretty typical Lime Crime price tag of £33, so this might not be one for you if you’re a fan of more affordable beauty!

  1. Ahh this looks super gorgeous! I’m such a sucker for a highlighting palette, especially the more out there and icy themed ones but I do agree that is quite pricey! My all time favourite is still my ABH Sweets Glowkit 🙂

    1. I still need to try some ABH products, I’m always hesitant to branch out into new brands when they’re expensive in case I hate them but I think I’ll make an exception since their glowkits look amazing! ☺️
