Makeup Revolution Retro Luxe Lip Kit Vault Review

Makeup Revolution Retro Luxe Lip Kit Vault Review

One of the best things about the lead up to Christmas is all the cool gift sets and limited edition beauty goodies available at Superdrug. One of the gift sets that really excited me when I was browsing was the new Makeup Revolution Lip Kit Vault. This is a box full of 10 of Makeup Rev’s  incredible lip kits; including 5 matte lip kits, three metallic and two gloss kits. The box also included two brand new exclusive shades.

The outer packaging for the Vault is incredibly luxurious; there’s a rose gold outer-card with the different shades on the back, and then inside this is the black box with a basic print on top of the Lip Kit’s packaging logo. The box opens from the front with a hinged lids, and the lip kits are stored in two pull-out draws. The shade names are also printed on the top of the lid.

The five matte lip kits include the shades Echelon, Grandee, Noble and the two exclusive shades Duchess and Highness. The matte lips have an incredible formula; they dry really quickly and have a great pigment. There are a fantastic range of shades for the matte lips, but I would have preferred to have seen a darker purple lip or a red lip as opposed to the nude shades, especially since Noble and Highness are so similar.

The three metallic kits are in the shades Empress, Regent and In Waiting. I personally found these to be a little disappointing in terms of texture; they require a lot more layering and also smudge quite easily. I did really love the colours of these kits, especially Regent which would make a perfect shade for Christmas. The two gloss shades are Honour and Original, and are incredibly pigmented for lip glosses. I love that MUR picked two completely different shades, and think the glosses are perfect for every day lips.

What are your favourite shades from the Lip Vault? Will you be picking one up? Leave me a comment below and let me know!

The box is AMAZING but unfortunately I don’t think many of these shades would suit my skin tone!! 🙁 I absolutely love the look of Echelon and Grandee though, they look super fabulous and like every day wear! I’m so excited for all the xmas gift sets to come out, I can tell my list is going to be soo long this year!

I usually love the look of all the Christmas gifts sets and end up talking myself out of buying them haha. This box looks so good though! Especially love the look of the Matte shades as I’m definitely all about the nude lipsticks!

They have a palette vault as well that I’m quite tempted by! Such a clever/unique set as opposed to the usual beauty sets with just a few themed bits in ☺️

I’ve been reading this a little bit with these lip kits that its more packaging > formula. A little bit disappointing, wah! Have you tried the Primark ones that are like this? I bought one today but haven’t tried it out yet 🙂
