A Break From Blogging & A Re-Brand

Hello! It’s been a while since I last posted. (well, roughly three weeks, but for someone who posts at least once a week that’s still a while!) I went on holiday on the 20th October for a week and had the best time ever. The only problem was, when I came back I had zero motivation for anything. I still had to go back to college and work, cause those are pretty essential. But my sudden lack of motivation meant my blog was pretty much forgotten. I spent my free time binge-watching Netflix (Stranger Things season two basically changed my life, just FYI) and I just didn’t want to blog. Ever.

Despite having no motivation, it still bothered me that my blog was dead. At least, temporarily dead. I still had ideas for posts, I just couldn’t be bothered to write them. I didn’t want to engage with any comment pods I was a part of, and I even felt pretty distant from my blogger friends’ group chat.

I realised I was starting to see my blog as a chore, rather than something I enjoyed doing. I was stressing over my engagement dropping, rather than the fact I’d lost my passion for writing. I decided the best way to combat these blogger-blues was to completely hit refresh on everything; my blog, my attitude towards it, and my content.

I’ll still be posting plenty of beauty reviews and lifestyle posts, but I felt like that was all I was posting, and I was neglecting my other passions. I started blogging as a way to express everything I was loving and enjoying, but it basically became a place where I felt forced to blog about the things that were trending or that would get me more views, and it all felt very unnatural.

I’ve now decided to basically chill the f*ck out with my blog a bit. I felt very confined before but I want to try and explore more topics and stop scheduling everything. This way, I might even find myself posting more, as the pressure to do so disappears. I also gave myself a shiny new layout and logo, just to signify the change (and make the blog look even cooler!)

What sort of content do you hope to see more of in the future? Leave me a comment below and let me know!

  1. I had some personal things going on earlier this year and it definitely impacted my blogging schedule. As someone who only missed one post after blogging for almost (?) 2 years every week that was crazy. But then when I went MIA for a few months that was a bit more. I think taking your time away from blogging is important, especially if that makes you feel a passion again for doing so! I think mixing in lifestyle / whatever content interests you most will make you feel more passionate about writing the post in the first place 🙂

Can’t wait to see what you create!

  2. Its so important to listen to your gut in this instance and if you are feeling like you are forcing yourself to write, take the break and come back refreshed and stronger for it. I’m looking forward to seeing what you write in the future 😊

  3. I know exactly how you feel Emma, I work full time and I find it hard to motivate myself to create blog posts on an evening or on the weekend’s. I always remind myself that I have my blog because I enjoy taking photos and watching my writing get better and that usually helps to spur me on. I’m excited to see more content from you and I’m loving your new layout and logo xo

  4. I’ve definitely done that in the past. There’s nothing worse than feeling that everything is forced and then or get your stressed. I aim for 1-2 posts a week but that if my life is balanced and organised x
