Cruelty Free Winter Skincare Guide

Alright, confession. Around early December I started severely neglecting my skin. It wasn’t an intentional decision, I love taking care of my skin. But with deadlines, Christmas and harsh as sh*t weather, I kind of just gave up trying to fix my dry, flakey mess of a face. I’ve recently been trying to patch it up, given I’ve had a month off from college and have no excuse to not get back on the skincare train. Thus, I present to thee, some incredible products that have saved my skin so far this year.

The Body Shop Oils Of Life Revitalising Facial Oil

I got this in my Body Shop advent calendar in December (shoutout to my lovely boyfriend for buying me the calendar) and it’s a real game changer. I use this oil before applying makeup, simply spreading a few drops on my skin and letting it sink in, and use it again in the same way at night. I also use a regular moisturiser after, but I’ve noticed a massive change in the texture and dryness of my skin, specifically the lack of, since I started using this oil.

The Body Shop British Rose Body Butter

The Body Shop is famous for its incredible Body Butters; I got their British Rose one in my advent calendar and it’s been keeping my legs silky smooth for the last few weeks. It also smells heavenly, added bonus.

Hempz Moisturising Lip Balm And Hempz Bath & Body Oil*

The nice peeps over at Alex Silver PR emailed me about a new brand called Hempz whose products contain -you guessed it- 100% hemp seed oil. It’s vegan, and contains a load of vitamin E, C, and several of the B’s, which are all pretty good at protecting and maintaining healthy skin. I jumped at the chance to try a couple samples from this brand, and I’m sooo impressed by the quality of the products I was sent. The Mango & Honey Bath & Body Oil smells heavenly, and has done such a good job protecting my skin from damage when shaving and exfoliating. I also tried out their Moisturising Lip Balm, which is so subtle and caring to my lips, which often take a battering in the winter.

Soap & Glory Flake Away Body Polish

I got this body scrub as a secret santa Christmas gift from my friend Chloe (read about it here) and it’s seriously immense. I try to exfoliate once or twice a week, and this is one of the best body scrubs I’ve tried. It smells great, lasts ages and is great for exfoliating dry winter skin.

Primark Face Masks

I’m a huge fan of cheap, easy to apply, sachet face masks. I’ve reviewed Superdrug’s 99p masks on the blog already, but received some even more affordable ones for Christmas as a stocking filler. Primark’s 80p masks are pretty simple; they do exactly what you’d expect and come in a big variety of mask types so there’s something for any skin problem!
