Christmas has passed, the sales are starting to dwindle and it’s safe to say I’ve got so much new stuff to talk about I’m practically drowning in it all. Basically, if you’re a bit nosy and enjoy reading about other people’s new positions, then stick with me, cause this post is full of that.
Christmas Gifts Galore…
First up, my boyfriend got me a new record player and I’ve literally never loved anything – or anyone – quite as much. As much as I loved my old Crosley Cruiser for its aesthetic qualities and compactness, the sound quality wasn’t the best, especially with newer vinyl releases; which a lot of my collection consists of. Erick got me an ION Superior LP Turntable, which is so much more than just a record player. It also plays CD, radio, plays audio via Bluetooth, USB and AUX, and plays CASSETTE TAPE! I don’t actually own any cassette tapes but I’m sure you can get the Stranger Things soundtrack on cassette which is pretty good incentive to start a collection. It’s also so incredibly beautiful, I love the old vintage style radio tuner, and it’s sleek dark wood design will fit perfectly in my new bedroom.
I’m also super grateful to my wonderful mum for buying me new makeup brushes this year, but not just any brushes, Spectrum Brushes! Up until now I’ve been using drugstore brand brushes, which are still great, but they’re nowhere near as high quality as Spectrum. I got their classic pink and blue brush set, which is super soft and had plenty of brush shapes for me to make myself beautiful with. Spectrum are also vegan, which is always a huge bonus as I’m all about protecting our fluffy friends whenever I can!
Other super cool/fun presents I got this year we’re some limited edition Adidas Ultra Boosts from Erick, (they have rose gold soles further proving that he is my number one fan) that are literally the comfiest things I’ve ever put on my feet and they look cool as f*ck. My sister got me a really fun camera lens mug, which also has an added fan lens cover to store your biscuits in (every mug I buy from now on will be a disappointment if there’s no biscuit holder.) My Mum got me an amazing Bare Minerals Makeup set, which came with a stunning palette, makeup bag, a gloss and matte lipstick and a mascara; this will be absolutely perfect for my travels this year as I always take wayyy too much makeup with me! I also got a free facial and makeover appointment card with the set which was an added surprise!
I took part in three fun Secret Santa’s this year, and got a really fun gift package from my blogger Secret Santa, which you can read about here; an adorable Pop! Vinyl figure of Season 2 Dustin from Stranger Things in his sweet Ghostbusters outfit from my friend Sam in my college Secret Santa, and at work I got a really cute gift bag from Erick (hidden perks of working with your boyfriend?) which contained Russell Brand’s latest book and a really sweet moon-shaped night light, that recently came in handy after I watched IT two hours before bedtime.
I got so many more presents that I’d love to rant and rave about, but I think it would take all day to finish this post if I did; so thank you to literally every person that sent or gave me anything for Christmas, it was an amazing year.
Sales Are A Girl’s Best Friend
Christmas never ends for me, at least in terms of eating too much and gaining new things. I went slightly mad for the sales this year, and thought I’d also mention some fun things I picked up this year.
First up, I bought a sh*te load of stuff from H&M, which was delivered in a box almost as big as me and was so big it apparently had to be delivered at 10 to 8 in the morning (thanks delivery guy.) I got some new home stuff for my bedroom upgrade, including some simple black wooden storage boxes, a dark brown wooden storage box, a gold accent tray, a cute constellation cushion and a dark wooden picture frame. I also splurged in the fashion department, and got two vintage-style Cher & Whitney Houston t-shirts that I am obsessed with, a new basic bandage skirt since my old one got very very short, a simple pink cotton t-shirt that cost less than £3(!!!) and a simple baseball-style t-shirt that is very reminiscent of the River Vixen’s practice uniform in Riverdale.
I also picked up a new ALDO backpack from ASOS (yes, bags are my biggest weekness) that’s so 90s-chic I couldn’t resist it at half price, as well as some new ankle boots & wedge-heeled sandals (shoes are also a pretty big weakness.)
Lastly, I got myself a Nintendo Switch with Mario Kart 8 & Super Mario Oddyssey. I’m a massive Nintendo geek, and have been dying to get a Switch for ages, but was always put off but it’s slightly hefty price tag. I got mine at a slightly reduced price thanks to the Boxing Day sales, and it’s one of the best consoles I’ve ever owned.
What goodies did you get for Christmas and in the sales? Leave me a comment below and let me know!
