Where on Earth is 2018 disappearing to? It only seems like five minutes ago I was writing about my March Media Faves, and now we’re into May!
Fave Film | Avengers Infinity War
Don’t panic, there are absolutely zero spoilers beyond this point – just hell of a lot of emotions! I’m a huge Marvel nerd, but haven’t been going to see their recent film instalments – cinema’s are expensive – but going to see Infinity War, the most important cinematic experience of the year, was an easy choice to make. I can’t recommend this film to those of you who aren’t familiar with at least a few of Marvel’s films, but if you’re a fan of the franchise you’ve got to see this film. I laughed, I gasped, and shed real tears as the lives of Marvel’s heroes were changed forever.
Fave TV Show | Rupaul’s Drag Race
Halleloo, I love me some Drag Race. If you’ve never seen the show before, your missing out on fun, fashion, sickening makeup and an essential intro into gay culture. Season 10 is currently airing, and I’ve been watching every week without fail – the queen’s this year are so fierce it’s nearly impossible to pick a fave, but I think the queen of queens this year is Miz Cracker. I’m super excited to watch this week’s episode – the popular Snatch Game – where each queen impersonates a famous figure or celebrity in a mock-version of the classic game show Match Game.
Fave Album | Dirty Computer, Janelle Monáe
I truthfully only discovered Janelle Monáe this year – I’d heard snippets of her music and enjoyed it, but didn’t become a fan until I heard Make Me Feel earlier this year. Monáe is astoundingly talented, her sound is refreshing but still pays respects to her influences, including Prince and Erykah Badu, in her music. Dirty Computer is full of eclectic beats; a mixture of rap, pop, r’n’b, with lyrics about being a queer woman, black girl magic and learning to love herself and feel free. This album is magic, and easily something I’ll be listening to for years to come.
Fave Game | Disney’s Magic Kingdoms
In order to try and fuel my hype for my Disneyland trip in July, I downloaded Disney’s Magic Kingdom, a mobile game that allows you to build create your own Disney theme park. To progress through the game you can unlock new characters to roam through your park, as well as build and unlock new attractions. The game requires patience, as building and complete story-based missions means waiting a few hours, which means you can play the game for short periods and then go about your day, ideal for staying productive in between all the fun. If you’re a Disney fan, this game is definitely for you!
