Safe In The Sun Skincare With Lush

As someone who is dug-out-of-a-grave pale, it’s essential for me to stay safe in the summer and protect my skin from harmful UV rays. As summer gets closer and the U.K. starts to experience some sunnier weather, I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect skincare products to keep my skin safe from both UV as well as hydrated and cleansed on warmer days. I was sent some fantastic products to try by Lush, and I thought I’d share some thoughts on them with you all!

The Sunblock, £8.95

For the last twenty years, I’ve only ever used cream or lotion based anti-UV products, so Lush sent me two new types of sun protection, the first being a solid bar aptly called The Sunblock. This product is designed to be used in the shower like a soap bar, and one third of the bar offers enough sun protection to cover the whole body. The reviews for this bar were all fantastic, with many saying it helped keep their skin safe in incredibly high temperatures – my results were similar – I burn super easily even if I spend a couple of hours in the British sun, but this little beauty kept my skin safe all day – and it smelt great too!

Powdered Sunshine, £6.95

Another new sun protection product, Lush’s Powdered Sunshineis a fine white powder with an SPF rating of 15. I used this after using The Sunblock, to provide additional protection against UV. It contains cocoa butter which makes it smell incredible, as well as lemon oil to keep skin cleansed instead of clogged. It’s also super handy for on-the-go application, as it’s dry nature makes it less messy than a regular lotion.

Tea Tree Toner Water, £9.50

An important step in keeping your skin healthy during the sunnier months is making sure it’s cleansed and hydrated, as well as safe from UV. Lush’s Tea Tree Water is antibacterial, antifungal and antimicrobial, meaning it’s perfect for all your summer adventures, where it will allow your skin to stay clean and free of breakouts. My favourite part of this product is that it can be used either as a cleanser or a toner in the morning, or in the middle for the day for a quick spritz!

The Birth Of Venus, £6.95

To keep my face fresh during the warmer months, I use Lush’s The Birth Of Venus jelly mask. It contains lavender and Chamomile which help to soothe the skin, and carrageenan seaweed extract helps to keep skin soft and smooth. It’s jelly texture also makes it quite a cool mask, making it’s perfect for refreshing the skin on a hot day.

Charity Pot, £3.75

On the theme of keeping skin hydrated and cleanser in summer, it’s a great idea to regularly use a body lotion. One of my favourite body lotions from Lush, and one of their most affordable, is their Charity Pot. It contains rosewood oil which has antiseptic properties, shea butter to help soothe and moisturise the skin, and best of all, 100% of the money spent on the pot goes to a bunch of different charities that Lush support.

What products do you use to keep your skin safe in the summer? Have you tried any of these products from Lush? Leave me a comment and let me know!

The sunblock sounds incredible, Lush would never have been the first place I’d go to look for suncare, as I usually just browse the aisles of Boots, but I think I’m going to have to check it out – I am also a fellow pale person. I love the Tea Tree Toner Water, it used to be a skincare staple of mine x
