My first trip outside of the U.K. in 2018 is fast approaching, and I’ve been carefully considering what makeup bits are going to be my travelling companions. I always try to be as smart as possible when it comes to packing, especially in the cosmetics department. I don’t wear makeup very often in the day (nobody likes eyeliner crease smudges!) and at night I prefer to enhance a more natural glow. As I’m only going away for a couple of days to Paris this year, it was crucial for me to pack light but still be able to serve Princess-worthy looks whilst I’m exploring the Magic Kingdom.
Fenty Beauty Match Stix Matte SkinStick, £21
I’ve raved about this dream stick before on the blog, but it’s always worth repeating that this is the best matte concealer I’ve tried. It’s super easy to apply and blend, and as it’s Fenty you’re guaranteed to find a shade that works for you! It’s quite a chunky stick, but given that it’s multi-purpose there’s no need to pack a foundation if you don’t want to – I usually stick to just concealer in the summer anyway to let my skin breathe a bit!
Urban Decay All-Nighter Setting Spray, £20.40
This bottle of liquid gold is an essential whether I’m travelling or at home, but especially when I’m somewhere with a lot of sun that could easily melt-off my second face. Urban Decay’s All Nighter Setting Spray is the perfect travel companion for keeping your makeup in place all day; especially if you’re heading on and off of rollercoasters like I will be! It’s available in a travel or regular sized bottle, making it extra easy to take it with you on a summer adventure!
Too Faced’s Peanut Butter & Jelly Palette, £32
When I bought this palette, I wasn’t expecting it to be quite as small as it was. I wasn’t disappointed, because Too Faced’s shadows are some of the best I’ve ever tried and for the amount of pigment each shade has I knew this palette would last me ages, regardless of size. As an added bonus, a slightly smaller palette means it’s perfect for cramming into a full holiday makeup bag! The Peanut Butter & Jelly Palette has some seriously stunning shades; the matte and shimmer brown shades make for a perfect everyday look, and pops of gold and shimmery people can be added to go full glam in an evening. The three shades on the left can also double up as highlighters and a blush if you want to be extra tight with your packing!
Kat Von D Signature Brow Precision Pencil, £17
I’ve recently been trying to keep my brows as natural as possible to avoid any awkward smudging in the sun. Kat Von D’s Signature Brow Precision Pencil is essential for keeping my brows looking as natural as possible, and it’s handy double-end spoolie brush makes it perfect for quick and easy brow application. I usually pair this with a clear brow gel like NYX’s Control Freak Brow Gel, to give my brows some extra fix.
Lush Lipsticks, £17.50
I recently reviewed Lush’s entire makeup range on my blog, and found that a lot of the goodies in their range are very travel friendly. I’m definitely going to be packing my three shades of their lipsticks; they’re super easy to apply, are nicely compact making them great for carrying around with you, and come in an amazing range of shades! I’ll also be packing their incredible Bubblegum Lip Scrub, which is a crucial part of my makeup routine to ensure my lips stay soft and moisturised before applying any lipstick.
